Jenna's table

Jenna's table

I'm making a table for little Jenna. She's almost 4 and needs a table of her own to do the things little 4-year old girls do! I started off by painting the boards for the table top in turquoise, pink, brown and white. Before this is all said and done, I'll sand these boards again to make sure the rough edges and splinters are gone. I'm thankful for spring break (a perk of being a teacher)! Today I got the legs cut and the frame built. This little table is going to be so cute! I'm excited! So after a...

Miter Queen

My mom and dad think it is really funny that I am the one who wants the power tools and my brother doesn't. I've taken a liking to working with saws, sanders and nail guns. It is my therapy, to an extent.  Last week, my dad taught me how to use his miter saw. That is one magical piece of equipment! I love it and I want one of my own! This is what we made (just trying things out): I posted my new found love of the miter cut on Facebook and a sweet friend called me the Miter...

My Serving Trays

My Serving Trays

One of my new favorite things that I'm making is the serving tray. I am making them from 100% found goods (curbside pick-up, yard sales, garage sale groups on Facebook, the Amish market, etc.).  I see these trays as necessities to intimate conversation times with friends or loved ones. I see someone using it in the morning to sit outside with their coffee, toast and devotional material. And, I see it being used around a fire pit as a place to set your Shiner, cigars and peanuts. To me, a serving tray is an accessory that brings people together or...

Texas Cut Out: complete!

It is complete! This one is one of my favorite pieces! I love how each piece of reclaimed wood took the stain differently. I stained it all once, sanded it down and polished it with a satin polyurethane coat. Two hooks have been attached to the back for secure wall hanging. It was a fun piece to make! Ready for the next project...

Texas Cut Out: w.i.p.

So, social media isn't all that bad. I believe you just have to know how to use it for good and sharing things people will like. On my personal Facebook page, I post pictures of the latest thing I'm working on. I'm pretty excited about these things I'm making and I just want other people to see it all (but I'm secretly hoping that they will want to buy these things or commission me to make something for them). Anyway, it is beginning to work. I posted this white washed Texas cut out as a work in progress. Well, it ended up...
